All bets are off when a group of professional performers come together to blur lines (and their vision) between audience and actor through America’s oldest pastime: drinking. Forbidden love comes under fire as two young women run away from their oppressors and straight into a forest filled with dueling fairy royalty, Tequila wielding fairies, and bumbling amateur actors just trying to get a job. This gender-bent production critiques old notions of proper behavior and brings together some of Philadelphia’s finest up and coming talent.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is presented as part of MTC’s ShakesBEER series, a quarterly program presenting readings of classic texts with a beer in hand. Shamus Hunter McCarty directs with MTC for the first time, and all proceeds go to fund MTC's upcoming 2016 Fringe Festival show.
